PM Plans to Transform Preah Sihanouk into Multi-Purpose Province

Sihanoukville: Prime Minister Hun Sen has arrived in Preah Sihanouk province on Wednesday afternoon. The Prime Minister has announced that the Royal Government has a plan to transform Preah Sihanouk into a multi-purpose province. He says that to achieve that goal, it is very important to build infrastructure projects such as wastewater system and roads.

Despite several meetings he had to attend on Wednesday, Prime Minister Hun Sen has spent time inspecting the infrastructure projects in Preah Sihanouk province. He has announced how important is the infrastructure to make the Royal Government’s vision come true which is the transformation of Preah Sihanouk into a multi-purpose province.

The Prime Minister says that the Royal Government has provided direct funding both for the construction of the road and the sewage system. For the water treatment system, the Royal Government has built three sites and is currently completing two sites, while another site is opening a construction site with a capacity of more than 20,000 cubic meters per day.

The Prime Minister says that environmental issues have become an important issue of the nation and also of the world and so it is important to invest for the environment. Prime Minister Hun Sen specified that Sihanoukville does not only has road infrastructure, but also has a sewage treatment system that can ensure that the filtered water in the pool becomes clean water flowing into the sea and people can bathe in a clean sea.

At the same time, the Prime Minister has talked about the importance of trees and other natural resources in the province. He says that the tree of love or the stone of love represents sustainability.

The Prime Minister has further explained that sustainability means to preserve peace, to protect independence and national sovereignty, monarchy, throne and to protect what exists today for the future generation. He has also reminded the Cambodian people to know the real meaning of the word “Khmer”.

Prime Minister Hun Sen says the meaning of “Khmer” is not to promote his name as the Prime Minister, but to represent the Cambodian strength. He says that since ancient times, Khmer have built Angkor Wat, Cambodians has proven they can lead the country to progress until today.

He explained the slogan doesn’t aim to enhance the role of the King or the Cambodian People's Party, neither the current Royal Government, but cover all Khmer territory, from the past until now, ensuring the Khmer people will continue to thrive when the opportunity comes, for Khmer can do it all.
